Migrate Music Review: Electric Wizard

In January 2011 Electric Wizard released their newest album, Black Masses. This was the follow up to their 2007 release, Witchcult Today. Electric Wizard is generally considered one of the most important and influential of all the Doom Metal bands. Their music literally sounds like it’s from the seventies and carries with it a very dark psychedelic vibe. The bands lyrics generally focus on the occult, witchcraft, horror films, H.P. Lovecraft and drugs. In my personal opinion, this album may not be their best one to date, but it gets pretty close, and some of the songs on this album are definitely in my top ten favorite Electric Wizard songs (Venus in Furs for instance). If you’ve never listened to Electric Wizard then you really have no idea what you’re missing out on. This album, and all Electric Wizard albums come highly recommended.
