And then next up is something that is quite remarkable. Hopeless Records hosted their own “Take Action” tour, where 10% of the ticket price is put forth to charities. This year’s tour was co-headlined by Silverstein and Bayside.
Sub City also raises funds by giving 5% — 2.5% from artist royalties and 2.5% from the label — of the revenue collected from list priced albums released on Sub City. Artists that wish to issue albums with Sub City pick which charity they want to support.
“Breaking $2 million donated to charity is a reminder to me of how powerful music, music fans, musicians and the music community can be in making a positive impact in the world. A huge thank you to all of you who have played a part in reaching this milestone. We are eager and passionate in working with you to make an even bigger difference from this day forward.”
– Louis Posen, Hopeless Records President & Sub City Executive Director
Over 400 artists have generously participated in Sub City projects including Thrice, Avenged Sevenfold, All Time Low, Paramore, Jimmy Eat World, Plain White T’s, Silverstein, The Weakerthans, Sugarcult, Gym Class Heroes, August Burns Red, Attack Attack, and many more.
